Meeteetse Historic Places
A colorful history straight from the Old West
Meeteetse’s history is colorful and truly unique and much of this history is evident by the historic buildings still in place (and the occasional bullet hole in the wall or ceiling).
Ranching and rustling, lawmen and outlaws, murder and intrigue are all part of Meeteetse’s past. There’s even a ghost town nearby (Kirwin).
Near Kirwin, hikers can see a cabin built for Amelia Earhart. After her disappearance in 1937, the cabin was never finished.
