  • Wood River Valley Ski Touring Park

    Winter fun in Meeteetse is plentiful and diverse. The Wood River Valley Ski Touring Park, located just 22 miles southwest of Meeteetse, offers the touring enthusiast a spectacular mountain area in the Shoshone National Forest. There are over 25k of groomed trails, ranging from the scenic and gentle South Fork Trail to the thrilling Brown Creek Trail. The magnificent beauty you will discover while skiing Aspen Creek Trail will bring you back many times to experience winter’s splendor at its best.

    The ski touring park is open for use seven days a week. There is no fee, but donations are appreciated to help with the maintenance of the trails. Skiing and snowshoeing Wood River Valley affords unique opportunities to photograph and view the wildlife, including deer, elk, moose, Bighorn sheep and Mountain lions. Although hibernating in the winter months, this is also bear country which includes black bear and Grizzly bear.

    Gear rentals are available at the Meeteetse Recreation District.

Rent a Rustic Backcountry Cabin

 

Rent a rustic cabin that is only accessible by skiing or snowshoeing. These charming rustic cabins come equipped with a wood burning stove, firewood and bunk beds. Truly get away from it all when you experience a day in the Wood River Ski Touring Park and a night in a primitive mountain cabin.


Covid winters can be colder than usual, lacking in events and activities that are safe and responsible. In Wyoming, outdoor activity doesn’t end with the summer, providing several socially distanced activities to enjoy once the snow falls. Explore the hundreds of miles of trails outside Meeteetse and enjoy cross country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
